About This Spot
Stepping into Jolly Kone feels like slipping into a laid-back corner of small-town California, where the pace slows just enough to savor the simple joys of good company and straightforward, satisfying food. Nestled along a quiet street in Ojai, this spot carries an unmistakable neighborhood charm—a place where locals come to catch up over thick, creamy shakes and classic, made-to-order burgers.
The atmosphere here is unpretentious and easygoing. Outdoor seating takes center stage, with sturdy concrete tables set under the open sky, inviting you to linger and watch life go by at a friendly, unhurried rhythm. There's a familiar comfort in the hum of families sharing meals, kids enjoying nostalgic favorites, and friends seeking a casual bite without fuss.
Jolly Kone’s menu feels like a warm handshake—familiar, hearty, and punctuated with playful, indulgent twists. The rich aroma of grilled patties mixes with the sizzle of onion rings and the inviting warmth of cheesy fries, building anticipation for each bite. Drinks here are more than just refreshments; they’re a part of the ritual, with thick, real-ice-cream shakes and unique root beer freezes rounding out the experience.
While the prices lean a bit higher than what you might expect from a quick stop, there’s a sense that the quality and care in every sandwich and burrito justify the small splurge. Service moves at a steady, friendly pace, perfect for those days when you’re not in a rush but simply craving a moment of genuine local flavor.
Whether you’re drawn by the classic bacon double cheeseburger, curious about pastrami sandwiches, or looking for kid-friendly combos that bring smiles all around, Jolly Kone is a place that welcomes you with open arms and earnest food. It’s not a polished experience—you might find the tables a little worn—but it’s one that feels rooted in community warmth and honest, comforting tastes.

Nice, chill corner spot. Everything tasted fresh. The prices are high. Usually I would say quality matches the price, but these prices are a little too high. The shakes were thick and made with real ice cream, not soft served. The burgers were delicious. The grilled cheese with ham was good, the cheese was a little strong tasting for me(cheddar cheese, I usually eat colby jack). There are also Bolbas, banana splits and different flavors for shakes. Will go back, especially for the shakes.

Service was good. Food hot. only outdoor seating was available and the concrete tables were very dirty. Good shakes.

A classic small town burger place. Very popular with the locals, and that includes children. The seating is outside so don't go on a rainy cold day. But on a half decent day it's the perfect place to take the kids for lunch burgers and fries and they specialize in blended drinks. Prices are not too bad. 10 bucks for a cheeseburger combo with fries and a drink. The seating is on concrete circular picnic tables with umbrellas. The neighborhood is quiet with only two or three other stores on the corner and all wooded residential beyond that. It feels like a classic California tiny town 50 years ago.

Excellent food!!!! The pastrami sandwich is delicious. My daughter likes to get their Boba tea.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kindergartener to this small family owned restaurant and it’s always been a good place to stop by especially if you’re looking for somewhere with a variety of options! this is a very nice spot that has limited seating and good food, although parking is hard to come by especially on their busier days, I’d highly reccomended coming here to spend time with your family or even just a quick grab for when you don’t know what to pick, and I’d definitely suggest the hamburgers

It was a little bit of a wait but it's covid time so that is normal. I do have to say they are working hard because the burger, french fries and onion rings were nice and hot. It was a good classic hamburger stand hamburger at a reasonable price. The ice cream was delicious.
